Gripper

Gripper: character relaunch and trading cards

Gripper 2.0
Gripper, a grinning character with big square sunglasses and wild hair, drawn in reds

A character from 2006, rebuilt for now.

[ Meet the Grippers ]

Five versions, one attitude. Cheeky since day one.

[ The definition ]

Gripper noun

A sarcastic remark, intended to provoke a response of some kind from the one it is directed at. Normally intended as a general insult rather than as an accusation. Gripper has similar meanings and overtones to American pejoratives like 'jerk' or 'jerk-off'.

[ The gesture ]

Gripper may be indicated by a two-handed gesture, usually to an audience out of hearing range. It is shown by curling the hands into a loose fist and moving the hands together. This is equivalent to saying, 'you are a gripper'.

[ Origin ]

I drew Gripper 20 years ago for t-shirts.

A few prototypes got printed. Then he sat in a drawer.

Now he's out, rebooted as Gripper 2.0.
